Hi all,

Sorry for the lack of updates recently, I had a busy time finishing my degree and have been recovering since. =p

I've got some new costume pictures to upload (some from Japan Expo, which was amazing!), as well as one or perhaps two new projects in the works. Work on Broken Bow is also continuing - including work on sound and editing! Only a few more bits and pieces to film and then it'll be put together.

I hope you're all having a good summer and are coping with the heat (here in Europe at least). What have you all been up to?

Well I'm coping with the heat! Our AC Unite broke down and we had to spend some 97 degree days here in Kentucky. So where do you live? I cant wait for your movie to come out and really hope its in English!!! XD

I live in the Netherlands, and today is predicted to be the hottest day in recorded history with temperatures similar to yours. Except we have no airconditioning in our houses here because it shouldn't be necessary at all. xD Even 30 degrees celsius is too hot for this country and today is ridiculous.
The film is in English yes, because I didn't want to do subtitles and I'm half British myself. =p It doesn't have an awful lot of dialogue though, because it's only gonna be a very short film (15-20 mins probably) and I'm working with non-native speakers & mostly first time actors. Still not too bad for a first project I think. ;)

It still sounds great! I have a friend who does short films with her little siblings. They did a production of  Robin hood, it was silent because the little ones were barely understandable! Oh there was a good sword fight too.

The weather here has been so weird once raining then super muggy broiling hot. Ugh. Weather.

Good luck with finishing the Broken Bow movie! I'm really looking forward to see it.
Also.. I saw your reblog of me and Sophie's ECG act. Thank you so much for your kind words!!! (I love tumblr, but writing simple notes of thank you is a bit difficult there. D': )

Thanks! Still kinda nervous about it, but we'll see xD

And you're welcome! Hadn't seen your act yet then, so seeing it live was nice (assuming it wasn't very different from Animecon?). Was surprised that there were still acts in the finals that were really confusing if you didn't know the source! :\

Ahh it will be fine. ;) From what I've seen this movie is gonna be awesome. :D

Yeah the act wasn't that different from the preliminaries. Us poor Dutchies only have 4 weeks to prepare after all. xD
Oh, I didn't know there were that many acts that have that problem. o.O' Which ones were confusing then? (Not trying
to be mean to the other teams, since I loved them all! But it's good to know from an audience point of view what we
shouldn't do. ;) )
But yeah, we were glad that we also didn't have a language barrier with our act since the French don't always speak
English that well and such.
Also, dialogue wouldn't have worked well with these characters anyway. If we would walk on and start speaking about
some drama people will only be wondering why we aren't mentioning anything about the fact that we are freakin' plants. xD
It would be too strange to just come on stage and act out a scene as if we were human. xD Also.. too many details.. their
story is so complicated. It would be a lot of talking/explaining on stage. xD
So we decided to take a less literal approach. And from what we've heard (especially from the Caithe and Faolain fans)
it worked! :D

I don't really know which ones they were, I just remember the good ones! xD  But you've basically mentioned the main problems - needing to much detail/explanation in the dialogue, which gets boring. Dialogue is okay when it's short and sticks to very basic story concepts that everyone understand already, without having to explain extra stuff about the specific characters.
On the other hand, not having or having just a little dialogue but then trying to act out something complicated also doesn't work. x)  You guys stuck to to very simple, universally understood concepts and were very clear about it.

Totally forgot to reply to this. x'D
Thank you very much Sam. I'm really glad with this feedback. :D Me and Sophie's next performance will have text again and you are very right that focusing too much on the details is just distracting when you do use dialogue. You just need to stick to the overal story concept. ^^ Mannn.. I hope this next act will work out at animecon. :D
