Ranger

The ranger costume I made for the Fantasy Fair last April.
I've been working on it on and off for over a year, adding on bits and pieces here and there (the latest additions are the vambraces, the bow, arrows and quiver).

Deciding what kind of costume I wanted to make wasn't hard; when I think fantasy, I think Lord of the Rings, and in a lot of stories (in Babylon 5 for example as well) I think the rangers are some of the most impressive (inspiring, even) characters.

Most of it I made by hand (including the arrows), except for the cloak (sewing machine), trousers (bought at a second-hand shop) and boots.
I tried to make it as realistic as possible (I really don't like the washed-and-then-ironed look a lot of ranger-type costumes have), so didn't go for an exact likeness as in the movies. It's all very comfortable, though a bit hot in summer!
