Jon Snow

Jon Snow at the Elf Fantasy Fair at Castle de Haar in the Netherlands. I wore him at Kitacon as well - with the most amazing group of Game of Thrones people. More photos will follow!

The cloak is made of nearly nine metres of heavy black linen; it is double-layered, with two nearly full circles on top of each other, sewn together at the front. It is gathered in pleats at the top, where a long belt is threaded through, which crosses over the chest and straps at the back. The fur bit is fake fur, cut vaguely in a wolf skin-like shape.
The jerkin is real leather. Underneath is a black knee-length gambeson with detachable sleeves. It is linen on the outside, softer cotton on the inside, filled with quilting fibre. Then a beige/grey-ish shirt, black trousers and dark grey boots.
The belt is 150cm long, to which I attached the scabbard I made (it's under the cloak here). The sword is my old ranger sword, which was looking much abused and needed a sanding-down and a new paint job. This paint is darker than the one I previously used, and I like the result. Looks much more like iron! The hilt is wrapped with the same leather as the jerkin.

It rained a couple of times that day, and I must say this is the ideal costume for cold, wet weather! The mud was also not a problem - the muddier, the more authentic.
