It's DONE! 8D

The staff:

The tutorial:

-----

This is for this version of Fai from Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles.

Because I know I'll end up making another tutorial for this eventually I've been taking photos along the way. No explanation added yet, I'll do that when it's finished, but the steps should be pretty easy to understand as I'm basically using the same methods and materials as in my Genesis' Rapier tutorial.

The first image is a tracing I did of the staff, which I've used as a direct pattern. When I write up the tutorial I'll make that available for download as well.

Materials used so far:
- 8mm thick sheet of a light type of wood
- thin, sturdy cardboard
- wood glue
- fun foam
- multi pupose glue
- wall filler (bought as paste in tube, but can also be bought as a powder, which lets you control it's thickness for a smoother finish - will be using this for the final layer)
- water clear polyester casting resin + dye
- tin foil
- PVA glue
- long wooden dowel
- primer paint
- gold spray paint
- 1mm clear plastic sheet
- super glue
- transparent blue glass paint
- thin nylon thread

Any questions, you're welcome to ask :)

Wow! Really good-looking. I especially love the gems. How did you do them?

Oh and to make it even more interesting, I cast them in a couple of sets of plastic measuring spoons meant for baking!
Ideal for small steps in sizes. ;)

Sorry, late reply! University is trying to kill me! =p
The gems are water clear casting resin mixed with a blue pigment. Really fun to make!
